What’s Your Life Story?

I am constantly amazed at the power of God and how he intercedes with me at just the right time — for all the right reasons.

I love my roles of husband and father.  I wouldn’t trade them for ANYTHING.  But here’s the thing.  I’m soon-to-be fifty-one years old.  I want to do so much more with the rest of my life than just go to work each day.

I want to write.  I want to speak to groups of kids and adults.  I want to encourage others.  I want others to know the never-ending love of God.

I want people to know they are so important to God and the world.  I want to let people know just how powerful words can be.

These thoughts tug at my heart every day.

And today, God spoke to me in a big way.  As I was searching the Amazon.com site, He led me to this daily devotion from Joel Osteen’s book Your Best Life Begins Each Morning: Devotions to Start Every Day of the Year.  From the very little bit I have read, I am encouraged and must get a copy of this book!

Here’s the daily devotion for January 1:

This is God speaking to me.  I am especially connecting with the second paragraph (see the text I underlined in red) where Osteen says this about my dreams:  “…dare to unpack them today and ask God to rekindle them…It’s time to enlarge your vision.”  YES!  It is time.

It is the biggest and toughest thing I struggle with every day.  I want my dreams to become reality, but I seem to run out of time and energy at the end of the day.  I wake up each morning between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m.  It takes me forty minutes to get to work.  I work from 8-5 Monday through Friday.  I drive another forty minutes to get home.  When I’m home, there are always projects that need to be tended to.  I’m not complaining.  I’m so incredibly blessed to have what I have and do what I do.  Really.  I am.

Somehow I need to find some time to work on my ‘dream’.  I have to be able to carve out a chunk of time each day so that I can move forward with my writing and blogging and public speaking.  I am so frustrated by all of this.  Can you tell?!

We all have gifts and talents.  We just need to get in touch with them and use them for the good of the Kingdom.  What would your BEST LIFE STORY be about?  You can leave a comment here.

Michael, I’m happy to be a new subscriber. I love your mission. My pastor (Randy Phillips – PCD) always says, “Good choices, good life. Bad choices, bad life.” He also has some really cool bracelets that he uses to spread the word. There is a link in this blog post ( http://toddliles.com/fear-and-intoxication-the-dynamic-duo-of-bad-life-choices.html) if you want to check it out. Keep spreading the message!

Todd – Thanks for the comment (and for subscribing)!

It’s been a deja vu week. Just yesterday, I listened to SEVERAL tracks of PCD music that I have not listened to in AGES. And today, I find you and your blog and now your connection to Randy Phillips. Our God is TRULY an amazing God!

Thanks for your encouragement. I shall continue to spread the message of making good choices.

(And I’m going to have to get some of those uber-cool bracelets, too.)

God bless you and your family.
